Hosting a Warrior for Peace in my home.

On May 20, 2025, during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, seventy-four-year-old Kathy Gannett , longtime Puerto Rico resident, tireless peace activist, and member of Madres Contra la Guerra and Vidas Viequenses Valen, stood up in protest alongside Quaker and Episcopal clergy.

They disrupted Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s testimony to demand an end to U.S. arms sales to Israel and to shine a light on the ongoing genocide in Gaza. All the activists were arrested and removed from the hearing.

Kathy was grabbed by an officer from behind, and carried out with force, then arrested and held overnight. Her unwavering courage, fierce compassion, and decades of committed activism are humbling to witness up close.

Kathy lives in Vieques, PR, and this is the second time she has come to my home to take a break. Her ribs ache, and i can see why. Video link below.
